PortraitOf.UK - A year long portrait project

On the eve of Brexit, I felt the need to respond to this generational change in our political landscape. On 31st January 2020, I launched a new website to document a year long portrait project www.portraitof.uk

I have arranged to draw and listen to people in a local bookshop/cafe every week. In addition to sketching a portrait of the willing sitter, I am also recording any conversations or comments to compile into a portrait podcast.

Art is a visual language, a visual expression of ideas. It is also my way to hope to understand the world around me. This project is about listening and observing. It is my way to come to terms with a country I no longer feel part of or represented by. But it is also about searching for hope and a future.
